WRV54G Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router Review Network Equipment > Linksys Routers > WRV54G Like the WRV200, the WRV54G is a router which is designed for small businesses. It offers an Access Point which utilizes VPN technology, and it also has a number of security features. You can easily connect to other Wireless-G products and computers which are wired. One impressive feature of this router is that it allows you to connect up to 50 distant users with VPN. This is a feature which the WRV200 doesn't have. Though this router is in the Wireless-G class, it has a number of unique functions. Much like other wireless routers, the WRV54G allows you to connect other devices using the Wireless Access Point. You can connect up to four computers directly, and you can also add more hubs to make the network as large as you like. What separates this product from other routers such as the WRT54GR is the Virtual Private Network feature it offers. This function will allow you to create a "portal" via the internet which is encrypted, and can only be accessed by users which you allow on the network. These users can access the network from distant locations, and don't have to be in the same building. However, it should be noted that this router lacks the range of the WRV200
or the speed of the WRT54GX4 model. It also doesn't have the media storage
capabilities of the WRTSL54GS. However, the VPN function more than makes
up for these deficiencies, and make this router the optimal choice for
those who are running a small business. It is also great for wireless
hot spots, and will give you the security, privacy, and reliability you
need. |
