The WRT54GL router is a powerful product which stands out from other routers in the Wireless-G class. It offers a high level of functionality as well as security. Like the WRT54G and WRT54GC models, it offers 54 Mps. However, it also offers the "push button feature" which makes configuring the router quick and simple. This is something that the WRT54G and WRT54GC models lack. It also offers a higher level of security than these models.
In addition to the SPI firewall, the WRT54GL offers AES and TKIP security, a feature which is also offered by the impresseive WRT300N wireless broadband router. This along with wireless Mac address filtering makes the WRT54GL a powerful router within the Wireless-G class. Despite this, the router is compatible with Wireless-B technology. Like other Wireless-G routers, you can only add 4 computers directly. You can setup more hubs to make the network as large as you want. This router is optimal for those who want to share a high speed internet connection such as DSL or cable internet access.
