On NPE-G1, main memory must be installed in pairs. The configurable options are 256MB, 512MB and 1GB.

NPE-G1 is the first of its kind to exhibit features of two important devices in one platform, i-e. it's a Network Processing Engine with full capabilities of an I/O Controller. NPE-G1 handles the system management tasks and is supported by Cisco 7200 VXR and Cisco uBR7246VXR.
