32MB DRAM SIMM upgrade kit for Cisco 3640 Series Routers

This memory part number has replaced MEM3640-32D as customers were finding it hard to place the right order.

3640 routers operate at 32-bit as well as 64-bit mode. Inorder to exploit the 64-bit mode for faster processing, you need to install DRAM SIMM's in pairs of identical sizes having same access times. Secondly, the total amount of memory installed in sockets 0 & 1 must exceed the combined value of sockets 2 & 3.

Dynamic Memory on 3600 series of routers can be configured to act as a mixture of primary and shared memory. The former will decide the processing speed of your router's CPU while the latter will be used to store data received from other installed modules and WAN interface cards.
