16MB DRAM SIMM for Cisco 3620 Series Routers
3620 routers operate at 32-bit mode only which cannot support dual bank
SIMM's. Four slots are available of which the first one must be occupied.
Cisco's website gives a good breakdown of memory options possible. A few
rules to keep in mind are that inorder to use the last two slots, the
first two must have identical memory simm's installed. The
first two slots (bank 0 and bank 1) should also be same or greater in
size than the slots following them. Also remember that an empty slot cannot
be followed by a filled one.
Dynamic Memory on 3600 series of routers can be configured to act as a
mixture of primary and shared memory. The former will decide the processing
speed of your router's CPU while the latter will be used to store data
received from other installed modules and WAN interface cards.
