Rate Limiting features should not be left unnoticed since these advancements
help in bandwidth optimization and network traffic control, preventing
congestion in the network as much as possible. Produced as a complement to the 2950 Catalyst Series, this latest Cisco
invention gives an edge to existing users of the company's products. Since
its hardware and inter-network operating system are also consistent with
higher-end Catalyst switches, the 2960 Catalyst product line will be flexible
to Cisco's updates and upgrades. With the company planning to advance
in technologies such as multimedia communications (e.g. Video IP), telephony
(e.g. IP Phone), and network management & monitoring, the prospects
for the 2960 Series could only get brighter. Expect this product to be packaged by vendors with software and devices
for advanced network applications such as wireless LANs and IP telephony.
